49 & Thriving: A Year of Experiences, Intention, and Inner Growth

On March 31, I turned 49. But this birthday wasn’t just a number — it was a line in the sand. A moment to pause, reflect, and ask: What do I want this next chapter to feel like?

The answer came quickly: I want this year to be about experiences. Not accomplishments or checklists. Not perfection. Just presence.

I want to live this year on purpose — with open eyes, open heart, and a deep breath. This is the year I stop waiting for “someday.”

This is the year I say yes to life in all its realness, richness, and rhythm.

The Intention: A Year of Experiences

I didn’t write a list of resolutions. I chose a word: experience. This year, I want to taste more, feel more, and be more.

Not in the hustle sense — but in the grounded, intentional way.

I want to make space for newness, deepen the relationships that feed me, and stretch myself past comfort zones that once felt safe but no longer serve me.

Whether it’s a quiet sunrise or a vibrant festival, I want to be in it.

Fully. Mindfully. Gratefully.

Music, Vibes & Vinyl

Music has always been my heartbeat — but this year, it’s taking center stage.

I’m rediscovering the tactile joy of collecting vinyl. Each record in my growing collection tells a story. There’s something meditative and soulful about flipping an album, dropping the needle, and letting the warm analog sound fill the space. It’s not just listening — it’s experiencing music the way it was meant to be felt.

Beyond the turntable, I’m chasing live music — from local concerts to full-on music festivals. I want the chest-thumping bass, the lights, the shared energy of a crowd moved by melody. I want sing-alongs, unexpected encores, and dancing until the soles of my feet ache.

Whether in my living room or under an open sky, music is my way of staying connected — to myself, to joy, to memory, and to the present moment.

Yoga & Wellness: Grounding Myself

Yoga has become more than a practice — it’s a sanctuary. A place where I listen inward, where I return to breath, where I find peace.

This year, I’m committing more deeply to wellness, not just as a goal, but as a lifestyle. I’m exploring breathwork, meditation, sound baths, nutrition, rest — all of it. I’m learning that taking care of myself doesn’t have to be earned. It’s not a reward. It’s a right.

Wellness for me now means alignment — body, mind, and soul. And I’m making space for all three.

Family First, Always

This year of experiences includes the most sacred one of all: time with family.

I want to create memories that matter — not just big moments, but everyday connection. Sunday dinners, shared laughter, quiet conversations, road trips, game nights, hugs that linger a second longer.

I’ve realized that presence is the greatest gift I can give the people I love. So I’m giving it fully, with intention and without distraction.

Being Comfortable With the Uncomfortable

One of the most powerful lessons I’m embracing this year is learning how to be with discomfort.

Because that’s where growth lives.

Whether it’s trying something new, having a difficult conversation, traveling alone, or unlearning patterns I’ve outgrown — I’m choosing to lean into discomfort rather than avoid it.

It’s not easy. It’s rarely neat. But it’s always worth it. Growth isn’t supposed to feel safe. It’s supposed to stretch.

Learning & Expanding

At 49, I’m both a student and a teacher.

I’ve lived enough to share some wisdom, but I’ve also learned enough to know there’s always more to learn.

I’m reading more, listening to more podcasts, diving into courses, and engaging in conversations that challenge and inspire me. I want to keep expanding — spiritually, intellectually, emotionally.

Curiosity is my compass this year.

Health & Wellness: Inside & Out

This year, I’m treating my body and mind with the love and respect they deserve.

I’m not chasing fitness trends — I’m choosing what feels good. Long walks. Deep stretches. Good food. Real rest. More water. More movement. More joy. Less guilt. Less pressure.

Health isn’t a destination — it’s a relationship. And I’m learning how to be a better partner to myself.

New Locations, New Energy

Travel wakes me up. It reminds me that the world is vast and beautiful and waiting to be experienced.

This year, I want to step into new cities, wander unfamiliar streets, and say yes to places I’ve never been. Every trip is a chance to reset, gain perspective, and reconnect with wonder.

I’m not chasing miles. I’m collecting moments.

And those moments are changing me.

49 Isn’t a Pause — It’s a Pulse

This season of life isn’t about slowing down.

It’s about deepening. It’s about aligning with who I really am — and becoming more of it, unapologetically.

I’m not waiting to be chosen, validated, or approved. I’m choosing myself. My joy. My voice. My rhythm.

This is 49.

This is the year of experiences. And I’m showing up — fully alive — for every single one.
